Default Then What

I was in a Yamaha shop today buying a 5 snap face shield and there it was a 2002 Wide Glide with 10,000 miles on the clock for 6,900.00 beautiful machine it was so pretty i fell in love. I could borrow the money monday
but I am having a very hard time justifying the perches to myself, and if i cant convince myself how will i ever convince my wife that I "need" two motorcycles. Or maybe I didn't fall in love, maybe I just went into heat. I guess I'll sleep on it till next weekend and see how i feel then. If the bike is gone, then I guess it wasn't meant to be. but if it's still there then what

I am lucky that my wife likes bikes as much as me. Two years ago I found a 2002 FXDWG with 3700 miles. I thought I would ride it more but sold it 8 months later with 5000 miles. Bought for $8500 sold for $8000. Most times took my Limited.

Default 2 Bikes

I have 2 bikes and I also mostly ride the touring bike. Being so close to the "Dragon" and so many other really good roads that when I want to blow off steam that I always jump on the Dyna and go.
Wife doesn't care how many bikes I have as long as I pay for them out of my pocket.

My wife hasn't said much about the 25 bikes that I bought since I retired 15 years ago with 19 in the garage now. Once she asked me how many bikes did I need. I replied all of them or one more than what I have. She has only had one question since. That was yesterday when I came out of the garage after working on a bike project.

She asked me if bikes were the only thing there was. I said yes. Next question?

50 years ago we were married in December. That following spring I brought a motorcycle home. She got very mad and packed a bag and left. I held the door for her with a smile as she left. Three hours later she returned. I asked why did she get mad over the motorcycle. She said her mother does not like them. I told her that I married her and not her mother. So if there is anything you don't like the door is always open and feel free to leave.

Like I said that was over 50 years ago and she was provided with many new cars, homes and a family of three boys who I taught how to ride and bought them bikes at age 9 or so. But you know ladies, they just never let anything go.

Just do it man! If it wont hurt u financially. She can only be mad for so long.

U know what they say...better to ask for forgiveness than permission...
(Not sure who coined that phrase but my guess is he was single)

I'me very lucky in that my wife also "collects", and her hobby is way, way more expensive than mine. Before she got seriously into hers, she once asked me: "How many stereo speakers and amplifiers do you need, anyway??"

"Just one of each, dear".

TWO BIKES? I can't afford the one I have. And when I retire, guess what expense will be the first to go?

If you already have a bike you like and plan to keep, I would not recommend borrowing money to buy another toy. My financial philosophy is simple, buy what you NEED before you buy what you WANT, and NEVER go into debt for something you WANT but don't NEED. If you can't pay cash for a toy, you can't afford it.

But I'm a cheap bastard. I hate paying interest, to me that's just throwing money away. Not having to make payments every month is also a measure of freedom and power. With no payments hanging over my head, if my boss pissed me off enough I'd have no problem telling him to take the job and shove it. And he knows it and doesn't screw with me. Or didn't, I'm retired now, and one reason I was able to retire at a relatively young age is that I am debt free.
