Where Is Real Data on Harley Perfromance?
Is there any Site that actually does basic testing on Harleys in regards to 1/4 mile times, top speed, etc? I wonder just how fast I can ride the highly modified Fat Bob (below)? I used to regularly get my Hayabusa over 145 mph and more. Dumb... -L-
Think the Fat Bob can get to 120 mph? Will the stock gearing do that?
I've had Harleys for nearly 50 years. Wouldn't ride anything else although I occasionally buy an oddball as a second bike. But I don't think I ever took the SG, FB, Softail Standard, Wide Glide faster than 90 mph.

In 2013 Cycle World ran a comparison between a Road Glide CVO and a Gold Wing.
Both were electronically limited to 126 mph and achieved that in the test. The CVO ran 12.4 in the quarter mile as about 122 miles an hour. The wing was at 12 and 124.
The Wing in the 60 mph roll on whipped the CVO solidly. But that was the only area that the 1832cc water cooled 6 cylinder 116 hp had any great advantage over the air cooled 110 twin.
Most HD's in touring are limited to 116 mph. I don't know about the other families..
My 13 Street Bob with a 120R has not been on the strip yet but I am planning on it this summer. Not with me on it. At 75 yoa and 210 I am looking for a 150 lb or less rider with proven skills at the strip.

It all boils on just how hard do you want to push your Harley sitting straight up into the wind. The info you want is posted everywhere you just have to look for it or spend some time at a drag strip. Most I know that own Harleys could give a hoot what the top end of their machines are they were never bought for that reason. The phenomenon comes from the over the pond bike riders wanting to prove something it is certainly talked about enough.

Michigan police testing, here is the data on the touring bikes at least, scroll to the bottom for the MC testing

You can easily get over a 100, without modifications the bike would not want to stay above 120, the problem is not the motor its the suspension at those speeds and the brakes trying to stop this b**** at those speeds. But if you are concerned with top speed, high speed stuff, a vrod or something else is what you want.

I have my own reasons why I want this info. And back in the old days, folks chopped off anything they could from their FLH so it would go faster. Long, long heritage of hi-performance in the Harley DNA.
I'm not into slow bikes, Harley or anything else. That's why I traded my SG for what I ride now. Sucker is really fast for any bike, will gladly pick up the front wheel in second, it'll leave a black street a long way on the highway.
But what happens if I take it up to redline in high gear? How steady is it? Can I re-gear it (smaller rear pulley) for higher top speed seeing as first is almost useless because it is geared so low? That's the info I'm looking for without losing a great deal of skin and perhaps my life... -L-
