Default In need of some serious advise from you guys.

I'm needing your wisdom here.
I bought a 2001 FXDWG with 5300 mls.
The steering stem was slightly to the right riding it. I thought maybe just the forks were slightly twisted in the trees. I tried loosening the trees, and to make story short, frame is bent(neck)
I called the HD dealer in Austin. Parts guy said to bring in VIN proof and cut neck from frame. I take it too them.
I paid 2200.00 dollars for a new frame, they said it'd be in in 2 weeks.
Later they call back and say it's discontinued.
Now I have no frame to even send out to get straightened.
Im out 500.00 from registration.
Called Harley Corp, they said not much I can do.
No company ANYWHERE makes a twin cam 88A frame.
Im scared to buy an ebay salvage frame.
What would you guys do?
Im really unhappy and feel like I'm done with Harley.

My son works for a company that makes replacement frames for Harley. I will ask him, how that works.

Contact this company, or find a good dealer and have them check for you.

You cut your frame? Wow, just wow.

Don't be surprised if your next Harley yoke is "very slightly to the right" again...

This aims the head lamp towards the fog line instead of dazzling the oncoming cars supposedly.

Thanks Ron, but I already spoke to a tech there. It's a no go situation with them.
And Forty, the neck was bent. it pulled to the right pretty solid as well.
Cutting the neck was necessary when you order a NEW frame through HD.
So "WoW just wow" doesnt fly on this one.
The front wheel was over 1 inch offset from the rear.
I guess if you like seeing your entire handlebars and upper tree aiming right with a pull is good for you, then go for it.
I expect better from my ride.

Maybe the HD dealer in Austin shouldn't have told you to cut the neck off until after he was sure he could get you a replacement frame?

There are a good number of shops here in the US that have a frame straightening table/jig that could have re-aligned the frame and neck for you without going to the extreme that you managed to do. All that you would have had to do would have been to strip the bike down and crate the frame to ship it if you couldn't find a shop near your location.

I'm thinking the dealers got some skin in this game also, OP I'd be very shall we say persistent in perusing this with the dealership owner and the the moco at the same time and get loud if you have too, think squeaky wheel kinda thing .

Minimum they should be helping you source a replacement as it was their requirements and subsequent backpedaling that put you in this position and don't be afraid to consider legal action against them as without a factory renumbered frame you'll have to re-register the bike as a special construction and lose the original Harley title and resale value and the insuring headaches that come with doing that. Big can of worms.
