Default Source for Regulator/Rectifier 2012 RKC

Can you guys recommend a source for a replacement reg/rectifier? Should I go with a HD part or are there better ones from the aftermarket crowd?

I haven't completed the troubleshooting steps yet but from what I've read the R/R is a common cause of charging issues. Just want to line up a source for a new one if in fact mine is bad.

Thanks!

Cycle Electric makes good products for Harley charging systems. Check them out.

I believe Harley had a recall on 2012 models for the regulator.

I haven't used them, but have read many positive reviews.

Their regulators electronics are more robust and because they don't use "Crowbar" regulation like HD's, they are more efficient.

Searching on HD for recalls, I found this. I hope my dealer will still honor it.

It's not a recall b/c it's a non-safety issue. It's a Product Program:

DESCRIPTION: PRD PGM:2012 REGULATORSRecall Date JUN 11, 2012
Last UpdatedMar 13, 2016
Product Notice: 0912

For what it is worth, I am on my third regulator on my 2012. The first was replaced the first week I owned it, the second around 25k miles. My symptoms were voltage drop on my voltage gauge, charge and check engine light lit. I also had a code for low battery voltage stored. You can pull those codes yourself.
The recall replaced the first one, extended warranty replaced the second. If I were buying one outright I would probably look at something other than a HD regulator.

I've had a replacement HD regulator in mine for 2 years. Works fine. Oh yeah...on long trips I have a spare one...just in case.
