Default Run / off switch..who uses it?

I did a search and didn't see this topic covered. I never use the run / off switch. Always leave it set to "run" position and turn the bike on and off with the ignition switch on the center console. I've never had an issue. I even leave it in the run position during the winter months when it's being stored. What are your thoughts?

I use the ignition switch, not run. Is this right, and if not, why?

Owners manual recommends use of Run / Stop switch to stop the engine then turn the ignition switch to the off position, don't know if it makes any difference at all.

Always use it for muscle memory in case of emergency.

The only reason I can think of is for safety reasons on a sportster where the ignition key is mounted on the neck. Could cause an issue if your in first gear with the clutch pulled in and you lean forward to turn the key off.

Best device on the bike to kill a battery's lifespan - every month someone is on the forum talking about how he left the ignition on. And if one person is saying it, you can guess there's 10 people too ashamed to admit it.
