I recently bought a used smart siren 2 for my security system on my Fat Bob. The siren came from a salvage 2007 Wide Glide. I got the siren at a good price however I'm wondering how good the nickel metal hydride battery is at this point and should it be replaced before I install the siren. Nowhere can I find any info as to what the mAH capacity is on this battery. I can find 9 volt NiMH batteries rated from 175 to 200 mAH. What capacity is Harley using? I contacted my local Harley dealer and they said parts like paint and batteries Harley does not disclose specs on. Even parts can't get that info. Damm you Harley Davidson!

 

The replacement battery is a standard 9v, 175mAh rechargeable NiMH battery.

 

Many thanks for the info...I can pick one up for around $6.00 instead of spending $20.00 for the Harley brand. Would it be possible to install a 200mAh NiMH battery instead?

 

I don't see why you couldn't use a 9V NiMH 200mAh battery.
