HOG patch etiquette and instructions...
You know there are some things I can't believe I have to ask. OK well I could have asked in the Harley dealership this morning, but figured this was less 'embarrassing'
So, I got in my H-D mesh jacket. It has leather shoulder patches, just right for the small hog patch. My questions are thus -
Is there any etiquette to putting a patch on the shoulder of your jacket? I couldn't put it on the back as the back is all mesh.
Which side left or right?
The chapter rocker, is there supposed to be a gap between the hog patch or are they supposed to touch?
Finally, are they supposed to be ironed onto leather? Or sewn? And if anyones ironed them, what settings and do you need to cover them/iron them on the reverse side?
Oh and for my husband if he's lurking - can someone describe what an iron looks like? [sm=chairshot.gif]
Thanks y'all
Eva

hey eva,
as far as where you put ypur patches...anywhere is fine....if you look in the post about "putting a face to a name" in off topic txmoores photo on the last page you will see a man who made a pair of jeans into a patch thing. its different and cool. as far as the chapter ribbon, mine touches the hog patch. and even though it is able to be ironed on i have all my patches sewn on, its just more permanent.
good luck and enjoy

eva, that is a great question (especially since I have been trying to figure out where and how) and have seen several locations... I am glad to know that there is really no set criteria.
The 'patches' guy is Don who is a blast to ride and drink with. He has been to Sturgis more times than I have ...... um, anyway, I hope when I am 65 I have the energy and fun he still does!!

Those jeans are cool and unique for sure. Kinda gutted about the sewing thing, more my Mother's kettle of fish that. Last time I tried sewing something onto leather, I put so many perforations into my thumb, I thought it was going to tear off [].

YEAH I SEWED A FEW ON MY DENIM VEST MYSELF THEN AFTER A SHORT, AND I MEAN VERY SHORT, WHILE I STARTED TAKING THE VEST TO THE DRY CLEANERS AND HAVING THEM SEW THEM ON. IT IS GETTING OUT OF HAND THO...LAST TIME BETWEEN MY VEST,WIFES JACKET, AND 15 YEAR OLDS VEST I SPENT 30 BUCKS JUST SEWING PATCHES ON.

Now that's funny. I don't care who you are, that's funny.
