Hi Everyone
Currently ride as my daily ride a Honda VTX 1300. Getting to want something a little lighter for various reasons. Need a bagger with a trunk. Thinking of getting the Sportster 1200 Custom and throwing on a shield, bags, and trunk...for shopping and frequent 400-mile trips to see my mom.
Want something okay for around town and well as those trips, need something pretty quiet for my community, dependable and good handling for the curves. The Custom size and price seems to fit in. Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I don't know about this one, at VTX weighs in at 638# a sportster without all the add on's is 565, sounds like you are heading down the same path if you were going for lighter. Sometin smellin fishy here

If not welcome to the HD forums where there is never a shortage of anything

OP: Why lighter? Did you look at a Dyna switchback, or better yet Ultra Classic

Thanks, nothing fishy. My 1300t weighs in at about 750 plus the extra stuff added. I'm in my 70's and finding it harder and harder to back the bike out of the garage every morning. My longer rides are getting less frequent and figured something lighter, smaller wheelbase, would be easier on the long run. Would get the abs while I''m at it.

Did a test ride on the Indian Scout. Loved the bike but not the 3.3 gallon tank and smallness of it. The 1200 custom seems to meet more of my requirements and the price would work.

Thanks. Both look nice, but trying to keep price down. Wish I could...
