After market side case??

After market side case??
I own a 2001 Road Glide and the exhaust pipes go through the bottom of the side cases. A mechanic told me these are original equipment cases, but a friend said the cases are after market. The friend said I should let the insurance company know, so the extra cost will be covered. What do you think?
