Anyone use the HD take over payment program when buying a bike?

How does it work, i.e. do they add lots of add on $, like they do when buying a new bike?

THX

Never heard of it (take over payment program), unless you mean the rider to rider financing.

Rider to rider financing you negotiate the buy price with the previous owner then finance through HD. They can only add on what you agree to (ESP, Nonpayment insurance, etc).

I found a thread on the subject.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...-payments.html

Basically reads that you have to go to the dealership and qualify for the loan. Then they do a "seller assist" for a fee. Then HD pays the balance of the loan and deal with the paperwork. It's still the Rider to Rider program more or less.

I thought this was going to be about blouses.

I looked into this once and they a add a LOT of fees. Check with a credit union first.

Maybe it varies by dealership, but that wasn't my experience with it. When I bought my bike, the seller had it financed through Harley and still owed a small balance on it, so we did the deal through Rider to Rider. My local dealer charged $500, which the seller and I split, and that included the bike inspection. So I payed the sales price I agreed to with the seller +$250 for the dealer to do the bike inspection, handle the tax, tag, and title, and had the option of adding an extended service plan and financing. I thought it was well worth it.

At the time I did it, Harley was offering a promo on Rider to Rider where if did use their financing you got a $200 dealership to use on merchandise, so I actually financed to get the promo then paid the bike off when the first payment was due, making my net cost effectively $50.
