Default 5-3/4" Daymaker on backorder til late may..WTF

Is this typical for a part like this to be on back order for a month? You wouldn't think everyone is out buying a $400 headlight all at once causing them to not have the item available until late May...

Are you buying it online or from a shop? Or does it matter?

I ordered from Boardtracker HD but got confirmation it is on back order. Just got word back from a local HD dealer and they don't have it either and said backorder as well. hoping to get it for the $319 price boardtracker has it for from wherever I can find it..waiting to hear back from another local shop hopefully they have it and will match the price..

I bought a Hong Kong Daymaker clone off of eBay for my Road Glide. It looks and fits exactly as the HD unit, for 75% less money. So far as I can tell, they were made in the same factory, same install parts, every well packaged, got it in less than 1 week. Only issue was no install instructions in the box, so I downloaded them from the HD website. Well worth the risk. If you look at the Daymaker box, the HD product is made in China too . . .

How long have you had it? I'm seriously considering this for my sportster now. It's only $89.99 plus shipping on ebay which is crazy cheap compared to the HD model.

Look at the JW Speaker website. They manufacture a version of the daymaker for about half the price. Made in America. I put one on my Road King back in December and love it.

There are now two version of the Daymaker by Moco. The newer version meets world compliant and cost more. I ended buying the older version and saved a few bucks from Broadtracker HD. I did not see much different between the two except for the price. When I order the SE Street Cannon mufflers from Kutter (before it was Broadtracker) there were backorder but came in sooner than what they quoted me. Hopefully this will happen as well for the Daymaker Headlight. The month of May is also less than a week away.
