Default Fork removal question

A question on fork removal:

I'm replacing the slider covers with chrome ones on a 2010 ultra classic. The service manual states to remove the from fender. My question, can I just remove one fork at a time, replace the cover and reinstall the fork on that side without removing the fender? Then repeat on the other side.

You could I guess, but why bother. You are taking the bolts off to remove the sliders, just take all four of them off at the same time and remove the fender.

Thanks. Just though it would be a little less complicated. Work with one, put it back together and then do the other side. Plus, don't have to disconnect the wire to the front fender light etc.

Well you didn't mention electrical connections. Probably could be done your way, just cover the fender so you don't scratch it while working on the one side. Good luck.

Too much risk involved in scratching your fender with the work you'll have to do to get the sliders off and on for just four bolts on the fender.

Isn't there just a plug for the electrical components? I thought if you were to take the fender off you could just unplug where the wires connect. I don't think you'd have to cut anything and it'd make the job a lot easier. Also you would't want to scratch your fender.
