Default Hill Country Run Rally- Luckenbach Texas

Who is going this weekend? I have never been, but was thinking about riding the Hill country Saturday and wondering if Luckenbach is closed off to anyone not registered for the Rally.

We went to Luckenbach a couple of years ago and there's nothing there, except overpriced food, people milling around and for us, a long *** ride for nothing.

The saving grace of our trip to Luckenbach was a tour of the LBJ Ranch about 10 miles down the road, and lunch in Johnson City. The only amazing thing to me in Luckenbach was that the roof of the store didn't cave in from the weight of all the crap hanging from the rafters...

If you've never been to luckenbach you have to at least go once. It's nothing special by any means but it's just simply a place a biker has to stop.

I may not have worded it very well, but I have been to Luckenbach. It is the Hill Country Run Rally that I have never been to. I agree the drinks and food are overpriced.
I usually only stay long enough for one anyway. Kind of a been there, done that, type of place, but is an interesting place to go to the first time IMO. After that, as jgos929 said,
just a biker stop.

I bet there will be an entrance fee. They block off the roads, make you park way out in the dirt, then charge you and entry fee to get to the Post Office building, Stage areas, etc. Hell, they even moved the port0o-potties one time within the entry area..

Yes, probably better to just skip that stop this weekend.

LOL Last time in Luckenbach was 1974. Mike McBride had just outrun me on his Norton Combat and I was thirsty for a beer. Get to the General Store and there's these black Lincolns at the turnoff. At the store, Lyndon Johnson and John Connally were sitting on stumps in the back yard talking cattle. Black Lincolns were Secret Service. LBJ was driving his white hotrod Lincoln Continental so he could outrun the SS on Ranch Road 1. Probably should have been impressed but couldn't care less. Drank a beer and left.

ETA God Bless Hondo Crouch. Hondo died in 1976 and I never went back.
