First Ride Impressions; power question
Hey All,
I finally was able to take my new-to-me 2015 street Bob for a good ride. First off, what is the hp rating? I search and get anywhere from 65 dyno'd, to 100 at the crank. I ask because the Ducati monster 1200 I had before seemed a lot faster. This is my first cruiser ride and I admit I wasn't sure what it would feel like. All in all I love it as I'm trying for a more relaxed ride. However I noticed really giving it a lot of throttle in first gear seems a little underwhelming. Maybe because I'm coming from higher hp sportbikes?

C'mon a Monster isn't remotely comparable to a Harley. Harley riders will drop 5-10k to get close to what many other bikes have stock.
If you want your Street Bob to perform like a Ducati you are going to spend a lot of time disappointed. They are just two different animals for two different kinds of riding.
ETA: not to mention the Ducati has close to 80-100 more HP and probably weighs close to 250 pounds less.

Really... it sounds like you didn't do enough homework about what you were buying...
HARLeys AIN"T about HP,, they are about TQ... and it's been stated for Yrs and Yrs in here and Every other forum..
A Harley won't/don't/can't keep up with most any 750 or larger Sports Bike...
IMO you need to realize what you bought,, If your not happy,, sell it and go buy another Sports bike like a "Hayabusa"
Harley aren't fast unless you spent thousands and thousands of $$$ on them and I really doubt you would want to spend that kind of money...
Just learn to enjoy the ride and don't complain about how slow all the other 10 million of us Harley riders are...
just an old man trying to learn you youngies...

The same could be said in reverse. Being a Harley rider all my life a few years back test rode a Ducati immediately missed the off idle and roll-on torque. The Duc is fast if that is the style bike you desire. Did not like the short wheelbase and the high seating position. Again coming from a life time Harley rider. My 175+hp Harley cost me about the same money as a Ducati to make a point.

In fairness to the OP, nearly everyone (at least in the Dyna section) has done the bare minimum stage 1 upgrades. Pipes, air cleaner, and tune or tuner. You will spend some coin, but it will really wake the bike up (but no where near Duc levels) it will be fun to ride. Your stock bike is hampered by EPA regs.
Also, due to EPA, the gearing is too tall. While not super cheap or easy, if it was geared a bit lower, the tourque in first gear would put you back in your seat for sure.
Never be a crotch rocket, but some small changes CAN wake up your bike, to a degree.
