New 2016 MSRP vs what you should actually pay
I am trying to figure out how much i should pay a dealer for a brand new bike vs the price shown on the official Harley Davidson website. Is there a max % that the dealers can or will go down? How would you play the negotiations out? Currently looking at the 2016 switchback at around $17,500 MSRP. I do not yet have a solid number from the dealer.

It is a lot like buying a car. There is no definitive answer because it is all a numbers game.
Big thing to watch for is hidden fees.
You can also get deals on accessories and free installation of them at the time of purchase.
It is a buyer's market right now.
Low mileage barely ridden bikes can be had for thousands less than new.

I think if you are smart enough to accumulate 20g you know there is no set best price. You can look up dealer cost in a variety of places but it wont affect much about where you end up. It is a lot like buying a car , depending on make and model and current inventory some dealers will discount more than others.
After you buy the bike just enjoy ,don't beat yourself up about chuck in California or bill in new jersey's deal do your best at a place you want to buy. Get it all on paper and take a while to decide you are comfortable, some dealers have sharper teeth than others watch out for add on to msrp and enjoy deals that include parts coupons or 1000 mile check up included. best of luck Mazz

Regardless, one has to be willing to walk away to get the best deal possible
