On our way to our Friday 13th ride today, riding along at a good speed, in my lane, when this A$$hole in a crotch rocket comes out the blue passing us on the right hand side. Never even seen him coming, if I would have wandered a bit in the lane to the right, we would have both been taken out.

Anyone ever experience this stupidity ?

 

Not that I can think of. I usually look in my mirror, 33-40% of the time, so I'm not surprised by what's coming up behind me. Not that it'll never happen, I just try to be aware, alert and ready for goofballs like that.

 

I have. Saw the guy coming and gave him room. Not safe. I wouldnt do it.

Yes, I moved to the right lane on I-95 because my exit was about a mile ahead and a crotch rocket passed me on my right in my lane. Scared me half to death.

Another time, also on I-95 me and my then boyfriend were in the left lane riding staggered, a crotch rocket passed us in the left portion of our lane/on the shoulder, he was standing up on the left side of his bike. A few seconds later 3 crotch rockets passed us on the right, all 3 laying on their tanks with their legs outstretched behind them. Effing idiots.

 

I look just like ya Chick, that's why I was so surprised ! It's that 60-67% that get's you I guess.

Still a stupid thing to do.

 

Stupid people do stupid things. Crotch rockets are usually ridden by young kids with little to no riding experience or life experience- it's no surprise they do the dumbest things possible.

 

Had a guy in our group do that once. He was next to me by the time I saw him. Surprised me and I swerved into the oncoming lane. Got back just in time to miss a pickup coming from the other way. When we stopped for lunch I laid into him big time. Said he was just having a little fun. Idiot!

 

Just having a little fun? I don't do the whole tough guy on a Harley routine, but I would find it difficult to hold back in that situation.

 

It happens. Cages aren't the only enemy out there.

 

I had a trio of rice burners blow past me on the way to work this afternoon- my passenger side mirror is screwed (due to an argument with a concrete parking lot pillar) and I never saw them coming out of the gaps traffic or heard them until they were passing me on the right- and me in the right hand lane- at well over 90. If I had hit my brakes or swerved it might have ended very, very badly.
