New guy here with some questions on Softail Heritage...
How's it goin everyone? Been reading these forums for a bit and just signed up. I'm looking to buy my first HD. Softail Deluxe/Heritage is what is on my list.
I've been looking around for a bit and have found a '92 softail Heritage that looks nice. Can anyone provide some info on this year of the Heritage? Any thing I should look out for or know about these? Is it easy to lower the rear?
What would be the going rate for this year in good condition?
Any info is greatly appreciated!

The Evo powered Heritage is a great, reliable bike. They've been around long enough that we all know their shortcomings. The main one IMO being the Cam Bearing. I believe 1992 was the first year in which HD went cheap and used the INA brand bearing. That bearing has destroyed many Evo engines. Prior to using the INA, they were using Torrington brand bearings. So you will need to ask whether that bearing has ever been changed to a Torrington. If not, you'll need to address that a.s.a.p.
Evo engines are also cold-blooded. You do want to warm them a bit before any hard riding. If you just jump on yours and nail the throttle from a cold start, you can expect to develop base cylinder gasket leaks.
I have many friends that have put well over 100k miles on their Evo's with no significant issues. I'm sure you can do the same. You can modify stock shocks to be adjustable height, or buy the adjustable aftermarket shocks. Progressive Suspension is probably about the best seller among`the Softails.
Enjoy!

I am wanting an Evo myself. Maybe a Road king or FXR. Right now I am riding a 2015 Heritage and really like it.
I would not have the least desire to lower it however. In fact clearance is one of the things making me consider a Road King. Which is a shame as I love the handling and ride of the Softail.

I bought my 92 new & never had an issue with the engine. When i decided to get rid of the cam bearing for the Torrington , I decided to do the mods on Nightrider.com. EV-13 cam , lifters, adj. pushrods, & carb mod. easy & cheap to do, made great power & stone stock dependable. I liked mine so much I kept It when I went to the Ultra & turned it into my poker run bike.
