Default Thread on tips for traveling

Hey guys. I thought there was a thread on here for tips for traveling. I.E. How to pack...how long you ride before taking a break. Remember reading to save old close to wear on trip so you can throw them out at the end of the day.
Anyone know if it's still here, I've searched but haven't found it.

We do a couple 10 day road trips each year, and only pack for 5 days. We normally have a destination in the middle of the trip. We UPS clothes there and send the dirty ones back home. Its always fun to open up our care package.

Less is best for me. My last 16 day road trip, I packed enough clothes for 3 days & the only levis I take, are the ones I'm wearing. I do laundry at the motel/hotel. Hygiene stuff. Anti monkey butt powder is a must LOL. My jacket is waterproof, rain pants, 3 pair of gloves for different types of weather, mid layer long johns & long sleeve t-shirt, small HD tool kit & the only parts I've every needed was a kickstand spring & rubber bumper for the kickstand, so I carry extra in my tool kit. Good luck.

Bring plenty of drinking water & stay hydrated. In addition to a basic tool set, a small volt/ohms meter, jumper cables, wire ties, bailing wire, spare fuses, & a starter relay are things you may need.

Somebody on the forums once said he only goes about an hour and a quarter or 100 miles whichever comes first. Quite a good rule to go by. Also, don't miss a chance to fill up one tank and empty the other, nothing worse than running out of gas and needing to pee lol.

Pack less than you think, bring cash and cards, meds for an extra couple days, spare glasses, layers, rain gear, tools, compressor, spare bulbs/fuses, phone charger.

Several years ago we did 20+ days riding 2-up from Illinois to Arizona. Laundry along the way was a requirement for us. We found that you not only had to be selective about how much you packed, but how you packed it. Most clothing can be rolled tightly to get more jammed in bags.

Invest in some eBag packing cubes. They make it easy to separate my clothes from my wives by using 2 different colors. They make packing the tour pack and saddle bags a breeze and use practically all the available space.
