Default Aftermarket Speedometers

Anybody grab any of the Harley aftermarket speedometers/tachometers? I think the stock is a little boring. I'd REALLY like an actual gas gauge on my Breakout as well, I don't remotely trust the "miles-to-empty" the ECM gives me. Never seen it above 155 miles, and it'll sit there for quite a while before it drops to 154.

My gas gauge never goes above 190. My question is...is it possible to put your actual mileage on the new one or does anyone bother with that?

But I'd like to have a digital one myself.

lots of problems with the Harley speedo/tach , I personally went through three different units and couldnt get one that worked correctly. I finally went with the more expensive Dakota Digital speedo/tach and it works perfectly. I started a thread about those gauges and went in to more detail about the problems I was having, I'm sure you can find it with a search.

I've had the harley speedo/tach combo on my Slim and now on my road king. Absolutely love it. Changing the background color options can be a little time consuming at first, but once I figure out where I want them I rarely change.

I haven't had any problems at all with either one I've had.

Have the dealer install and certify mileage or you could have problems at resale.

I'm confused. When I put my Screamin Eagle speedometer on, it came with a cable and required that I transfer my stock Speedo mileage onto the new unit. Otherwise it wouldn't even have a functional ODO. Is that not the case with others?

some of the newer speedo units only act as a display for the mileage that is stored in the ecm. but not all.

when I recently replaced the stock gauges on the wife's bike with a set of cvo gauges, I ordered the speedo with a certain mileage on it. it came with a sticker on it that said that it was not the original odometer. no way i'm paying a dealer to do that install, it literally took all of 5 minutes.

Had Harleys accessory speedo/tach unit on my 2012 Dyna and my 2013 RK with no problems encountered at all.Mileage was stored in ECM and easily transferred to new speedo following directions.

From my experience it's based on riding habits. When I'm on long cruises at 65 mph I've seen a full tank say over 200 miles. But when I'm back home to my daily commutes it'll drop to 170. And yes it'll lag for the first 20 miles after a top off but once it gets going it's accurate.
