Default Bike Cover Goo

I have a brand new, genuine Harley-Davidson bike cover that I've only used a couple of times. I've got some sort of goo that is coming off the bike cover collecting on the bike especially on edges like around the fairing, bag lids and tour pak lid. It's also on the passenger seat.

I have tried isopropyl alcohol and dishwashing detergent and its not coming off. A little bit afraid to use anything stronger, but now the stuff is starting to harden.

Ever heard of or seen this? Anybody got suggestions on what to do about it?

Are you having problems cleaning the goo off the bike, or off the cover?

Is the bike that ugly that you have to cover it?

Years ago I used a method my father showed me to remove road tar from my car, mineral spirits or kerosene . Soak a rag and gently remove the tar. This method may work. In any case I'd get rid of that bike cover. Hope this helps.

WD 40 works well for removing stuff like that. It will not remove paint so, pretty sure you can use it.

Is it possible that some head bearing grease got on the inside?

I'm sorry, I meant the bike which is why I referenced the edges of the fairing, and the saddle bag and tour pak lids.

I noticed you are a FIB and that figures. But to answer your question: No it's so beautiful I want to deter theft and keep it beautiful by covering it anytime it sits outside.

Mineral spirits. Makes sense, I'll give that a try. Thanks!
