Default Cooling off after a ride

My Harley, like most, is air-cooled. That requires air to flow over the cooling fins. Pulling into the garage after a ride with oil temps in the 220-degree range, seems a good idea to aim a floor fan at the engine, so I do. Anyone else?

Nope I've not worried about it and had no issues. The 220* temp is just fine. Ride and enjoy!

I have a carport, so mine is basically outside all of the time. I do wait fir it to cool off before I cover it up. But even when I had a garage, I never turned a fan on it.

Default Harley Fan

Sometimes in the heat of the summer I will aim a fan on the bike especially if I want to do something to it after a ride. It can't hurt but I don't do it all the time and have not had issues.

Just came in from an 87 mile ride in 84° temperatures; the Wide Glide went up on the J&S lift, tender plugged in, and 2 fans were pointed at the engine/primary/transmission. Did you ever actually feel the heat coming off the rockers? I always run fans for an hour or two cooling her off. Why do you think Ward's fans melt if you just shut off the bike without allowing the thermostatic switch to run shutting them off? Those heads are HOT... but of course, YMMV...

nope, at that point it's not generating any new heat so it will cool on it's own.
