Default softail wheel bearing issue

this may or may not be an issue, as i evidently wasn't paying close enough attention when i removed my old bearings, but after seating one bearing, upon putting the other side in, i bottom out on the inner spacer before the bearing hits flush with the outside of the wheel hub. as per the instructions i installed the left side first, and upon putting the second bearing in and torquing it down it just isn't flush. is this normal? bearings i took out are the same thickness as the new ones, so that isn't the issue. here is the 2nd bearing installed. is this right?

2nd bearing (right side, passenger side, brake side, whatever you want to call it)

and this is how the first bearing seated. quite deep in there. just making sure this is all correct.

its a 2010 fatboy lo. 200mm tire single disk brake mounted on the (passenger side) rear

not much to screw up. put in first bearing. slide in sleeve. put in second bearing. just seeing if this is the norm

Disc side always goes in first, until it bottoms out. Install spacer, make sure it is in contact with inner race of disc side bearing. Install other bearing until inner race contacts spacer snugly. That's it.

In the rear the right side is first, not the left as is in your directions (Pitt Posse I assume). You simply seatEd the wrong bearing first, which is why it looks wrong. It will not fit the bike correctly like that, you gotta switch it up

thanks. freakin pit posse. should have known. though when i called the dealer they told me the same thing, left side first. didn't specify disk side.

i don't have any more bearings, after reading so many things saying not to reuse a bearing once you've put pressure on the inner race, should i just go for it or wait another week until i can get some shipped to me?

If you can't get new bearing locally, I would order new ones, and pull the ones you have and check email for side to side play, if they feel tight and roll like new still, I'd throw em in till new ones come in, and just keep an eye on em. All this of course is assuming they have metal cages and not plastic. I don't personally install plastic cages at all, but definitely not twice...
