Default ROT Rally

I live in the Austin area, and we have the Republic of Texas Rally (ROT) going on this weekend. Motorcycles are everywhere. If you are visiting, WELCOME, and be safe!

Didn't go to the rally, but made a ride to Austin and up through Marble Falls today. A lot of bikes on the road, but not congested on the back roads. 405 miles today.

Last time I went was back in '09. I got tired of the horrible traffic and the hot weather. Seemed like every year up to '09 the traffic got worse and the weather got hotter. Its was a hell of a party and saw many............things. Its crazy what some women will do for beads. Not interested in that stuff anymore.

I hope you made it to the Blue Bonnet Cafe for some pie. Did you do the 1431 route?

The traffic is much worse now. Austin is now the 11th largest city in the U.S., and the roads have not kept up with the growth. The weather has been fantastic here (temperature wise, not rain wise) until this week. It got into the low 90s today. Yep, summer's here!

Went once back in 09. That's when I realized I am not a rally person. Other then the riding to the west of Austin it was boring. Haven't been to a rally since. Dought I ever will. I have been told other rally's are better but since I don't really drink much I just don't think there for me.

We did have lunch at the Blue Bonnet Café, but no pie for me. (diabetic). 1431 was wonderful, and leaving Austin we took Lime Creek Rd. Lime Creek Rd. isn't that long a ride, but twisty and not much traffic. It was a great ride.

My wife and I drove into Austin yesterday from the north on 183 via car. We were surprised how few bikes we saw given the ROT rally.

I am not sure of the number of attendees at ROT, as I haven't went to the rally in years. I do know a lot of my friends don't go anymore due to it is always so hot this time of year and the price to get in. They don't sell any day passes what I am told. I just go up that way to ride!!
