I agree with this, I even check to make sure the vents are open. I can not feel any air.

I know the vents in my Schuberth modular work; you can really feel they're open when it's colder out. I've worn it in 100+ degree heat; but it gets hot when you are sitting still. Nice to flip the face up if it's a short stop.
BTW; mine is silver...I choose that hoping it would be cooler "inside" in hot sun.

I have a matte black Bilt Fusion, and in the 100 degree Texas heat, I can definitely tell when the vents are open and when they are closed.

I also can't feel any air moving, until after my head starts to sweat, then when I move there is a cooling breeze across the top of head. At least as long as I am moving. But after my perspiration evaporates, I can't feel the air anymore.

At least until a few stops, slow speeds, etc. and the cycle begins again. At least that has been my experience out here in the desert heat.

Easy solution: Get her a gloss white helmet. Black or especially mat black is the hottest possible.

TiO2 paint is, if memory serves, about the best spectrum killer/reflector. Very glossy and very white...and easy to find in a rattlecan

I put both finish types out in the sun for about 15 minutes and checked the temps with an infared thermometer. The gloss read about 14 degrees hotter but is that because it reflects the heat back to the thermometer.
Tomorrow I am putting the helmets out again and checking the inside temps. I'll post my results.
Personally, if you are concerned about helmet heat, my advice would be to pick a different color than black.

Thanks for all the replies. I know a white helmet is supposed to be cooler but she hasn't found one she likes in white. The vents in my helmet are just for show as far as I am concerned.
The helmets both were cooler on the inside after setting them out in the sun. The difference was about 20 degrees lower than the outside temp. Not the best scientific test but best I can do.
Just have to keep looking for the one that looks like it will be the coolest to wear.

Vents are very useful. I've had my helmet on and wasn't moving for awhile but when I did, the air coming in from them really cooled the sweat on my head. So don't sell vents short.

The vents in my shoei neotech are only really noticeable when I have the windshield off my Road King. They work great!

But when the windshield is on the vents don't seem to make much of a difference, I have to open the face shield a little to feel any air flow.
