Leather jacket fit and break-in

Leather jacket fit and break-in
I'm a new rider, (no bike yet). I'm trying to cover my bases as far as gear, and this is my first leather jacket. It's a Scorpion 1909 jacket, size medium. I'm 5'6" and about 170lbs. It fits snug, but not tight. The snuggest parts are probably the inside elbows (when bent) and the stomach (If I lost extra pounds that would go away). The sleeves are a tad long, although when arms are stretched out it's not bad. With gloves on, I can't really zip up the cuffs 100%, is that by design? Because the only person that would fit would have no wrists. Also, do leather jackets like this loosen up a bit over time? how long does it take?

The Scorpion 1909 jacket has level 2 armor in the shoulders and elbows; a jacket or racing/track suit with armor needs to fit tight. Most people buy their leather gear too big, under an impact the armor can slide out of the way; with a tight fit it can't do that nearly as easily. That Scorpion jacket has a cut out in the back for the optional back protector; if you didn't get it when you bought the jacket buy it; every little bit helps
Motorcycling jackets should have longer sleeve lengths and the cuffs are cut to fit tight around the wrists to prevent air intrusion and they're typically worn with gauntlet style gloves that slip over the cuffs.
That jacket will break in as you begin to wear it and the fit will become more natural for you; I treat all my leathers with Lexol Leather Conditioner and Doc Bailey's Leather Black. That Scorpion isn't a smooth leather, it's more of a distressed so you would want to experiment with a leather treatment in a hidden spot to see if it causes any problems with the distressed leather. I've got several distressed jackets and the Lexol has never caused any problems.
