Mine is so bad I can't sleep without the noise of a fan. The ringing will keep me up.

Ear plugs like many have said.

I think mine came from the fan. For years I'd orient my head so I could hear the roar of the wind over my ears from my fan I had running every night. I sit here typing with ringing in my ears. Sometimes I don't notice it. Other times I do.

Mine is service connected- explosions and jet plane noise does that.
Fan, tv, radio, on for sleep- ruined a few relationships too.
Ear plugs are at my discretion.

1. Age related natural hearing loss
2. 20 plus years building submarines as a pipefitter
3. Rock concerts in the 70's

It adds up
Tinnitus is a hiss sound for me that gets noticeable when there are no other sounds like nighttime or right now having my morning coffee.

I try hard not to complicate it further so I wear a full face modular AND ear plugs.

The worst part of tinnitus is that it's not curable. I've had it for close to 16 years and they tell me it'll only get worse. Don't take any kind of aspirin, Tylenol, Advil because it'll make it worse. And my $6000 hearing aids do nothing for tinnitus even though they include a tinnitus "masker".
But you should know that ringing in the ears and tinnitus could be two separate things. If you only get it after riding the bike, it's ringing...not tinnitus.

Wind is a killer. I've had tinnitus forever as well. I was in aviation in the Marine Corps for 12 years and the helmets aren't the greatest for sound deadening and if you put plugs in under them you can't hear the pilots clearly so that was out. Throw in the sound of a .50 over and over and over and my ears are just in a hell of a shape. I have to sleep with a fan on because in complete silence the ringing is so loud I can't sleep.

Obviously we are affected differently by noise. There was a time 30+ yrs ago when I was almost paranoid about ringing ears till one day said to heck with it I'm not missing a thing. Now after more than 50 yrs hanging onto the bars, rock n roll music, target practice and enjoying life the ringing has gotten no worse. WHAT?

This. I used to work around loud and high pitched whining HVAC equipment. I could have worn ear protection, but did not and have lost most of my high frequency hearing. I have never gotten it back, and the docs said I never will. Now I have great difficulty understanding conversation when there is even a small amount of background noise. If you have a constant ringing in your ears you have already had some hearing loss. Wear ear protection whenever needed and you will stop further damage.....
