Default Skunks - another reason not to tailgate

Riding behind a car, car straddles a widely squashed skunk roadkill,
I roll right over it.
I was lucky; stink didnt stick to my tires.
Another reason not to tailgate cars.

OP, you're also lucky the car in front of you wasn't the one that ran over the skunk. You'd likely have the stink all over you and your bike.....

I never ride closely, right behind a car. If I can't have a good following distance, I ride off to the side, so I can see a clear line of sight.
If the car is blocking your line of sight, you can't see potholes or other debris. Hope you have a lot of tomato juice.

. . . If I can't have a good following distance, I ride off to the side, so I can see a clear line of sight. If the car is blocking your line of sight, you can't see potholes or other debris . . .

Right you are.
Later that day I passed a sign for the Roadkill Cafe & Cabins in Artemas, PA. I dont know if they will cook "carry-in" but since I hadn't scooped it up I didn't stop to ask.

This reminds me of the song..."dead skunk in the middle of the road".
