Accidents happen. It's to bad that it did, but your dealer is stepping up. You can't ask for much more in circumstances like that.

At least it's cosmetic damages that can be fixed reasonable quick and the dealer takes full responsibility.

At another dealership, it one particular technician took a bike for a test drive, 2 out of 5 trips ended in the dust. That technician is no longer at that dealership.

Every time there's a post about something happening with dealer service, there's always the "usuals" that spew the "that's why I never take it to the dealer" or "that's why I always do the work myself" which is fine. But, in this case it was at the dealer for warranty service so the OP, or you for that matter, couldn't do it himself.

And, as already mentioned, accidents happen. The dealer has insurance for this. The good news is that the service manager is a stand up guy, fessed up and will make it right to the OP's satisfaction.

In addition, the OP gets his memorial to his mother-in-law and also gets to test ride a '17 RK. Not bad.

Was gonna say the same thing that he'd better not get too comfortable on the King.

It's nice to see a dealer doing the right thing. Happy New Year. Good luck with the repairs.

Their taking responsibility for their mistake which is rare with anyone, any where these days. So chill out and ride the Grandpa bike to the bar and have a beer. At least you don't have to walk.

No matter how careful a person is including the staff at the dealership accidents will happen. Good on them for stepping up to the plate and doing the right thing

fix the the bike and throw in some extra's is exactly what they should do.
It's a shame that some other shop's might not.. Doing what's right is what brings people back to the good ones..

Nice feel good story & glad to see they're working your proposed tribute into the ride. That's a dealer who cares and worth repeat business - thks for sharing & enjoy that sweet ride when it's back in your stable.
