Default Gunk foaming engine cleaner and Gunk Engine Shine

I noticed that after washing my bikes, the engines still had dirt and brown build up in certain areas... went searching for safe engine cleaners. Found this thread:

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...-engine-5.html

Went and got some gunk foaming engine cleaner and gunk engine shine wash the bikes. let them dry then did the cleaner, dried... then shine.

smoked like nobodys business then.... RESULTS! no brown filth and monster shine. best 9 bucks i've spent cleaning.

amazon is scalping n the prices but.. local auto store should have you covered cheaper

Thanks for a little blast from the past lol. However, I eventually did make the change to the S100 engine brightener after getting a partial can from a buddy to try out. I found it was less oily than the Gunk brightener and I like that you can control the spray a lot easier so you're not spraying lots of unintended parts. No smoking either!

I lucked out since a local ATV shop started carrying the S100 because a lot of motorcycle guys kept stopping and asking for it. (They also carry a Honda cleaner that's safe for all painted parts. Spray on and rinse off, works great for a total quick wash of the bike).

I still use the Gunk Foamy cleaner though when the engine and stuff is looking real grungy. That stuff works awesome, every time. I traded the Night Train this past summer for a '16 RGS too btw, but it'll live on forever on the internet!

I've used S100 to restore old bicycle chrome, can't but love the ease of that stuff .

I was reading other members use WD40 also , anyone ever try Fluidfilm ?

that smoke was crazy. i wasn't prepared for that. turned the bike on and you would have thought i sprayed lighter fluid on an open flame.

Haha, at a light once I heard a guy yelling that my bike was on fire since it was smoking so bad after just spraying it down with the Gunk shine. I just laughed and said "thanks for the heads up".

Glad it still works - I bought some recently and it seems to be equivalent to a can of window cleaner I have - definitely not the stuff of olden days. I haven't tried mine yet on anything heavy but this is encouraging.

When I was washing my bike back in the late '60's, Gunk was da bomb.

When I'd take it in for some service, the dealership owner would laugh and say he would have to wash his hands before he'd touch my bike.

Look what it did to the rocker, cam, and sprocket covers. You'll need to polish those.
