"You should never use the heel shifter when you are countersteering, that would be very dangerous. (I read that on Wikipedia so I know it's true)."

Should add that using anything other than synthetic oil in the transmission will amplify the countersteering effect.

I think that's only when you countersteer to the Left, you know, because that's what side the shifter is on. You can counter steer to the Right and use the heel shifter all day.

Also: you should only put your Harley in neutral when riding in Switzerland.

How often do you guys use your hand grips? I was told they're not to be over-used.

The alternate dealer took the bike in on Sunday and was happy to investigate the issue. Yesterday they called and said that something was loose (I will find out more when I pick it up) and that the shifter peg was hitting the floorboard because of it.

Problem is solved but it still doesn't make what dealer #1 said any less infuriating.

I have found that, despite the old axiom of the customer always being right, the new axiom for the dealerships is "the customer is always wrong".

I am all for that - as long as they know what they are doing. And this place does not...

You can buy an extended lever on ebay pretty cheap.
I did, I like it.

Those are way pricey.
Bates Leathers makes some good, made to measure boots for lees than half that price. Been wearing them for 25 years now.
