I think I understand. Riding is my extension of the wilderness fly fishermen in me, providing solitude buy excluding any extraneous thoughts, meditation and thinking like a primal hunter, with an awareness of all around in a hyper-aware but relaxed state of mind. Your martial arts analogy works for me.

I think all the OP is asking is when people see your bike, what might they think about you. Is that about it?
My bike has a lot of chrome and other doo-dads on it, thanks to the original owner. I wouldn't have spent what he did on it, but I like the result. This and the 2-tone paint make it somewhat unique, and it's usually pretty clean. On a sunny day it's glistening.
So I think when someone sees it they assume the owner likes nice things (I do) or at least takes care of his things, which I also do, meticulously. Now, since it's a Sport, a more knowledgeable person might conclude I'm a beginner, or I couldn't afford a big twin. You got me there.
Lastly, they might notice initials on the back fender. My son passed away 5 yrs ago this month. I started riding to help with my grief, and when I got my bike, his inits went on it immediately.
