The NYPD along with the Police Departments of the 2 neighboring counties of Long Island, Nassau & Suffolk, use HD Road Kings (NYPD & NCPD) & Electra Glides (SCPD). I can't recall them ever using anything else.

Trump can fix that with an EO requiring government contracts to buy US made vehicles for their fleets.

The cops in my town ride BMWs, the next town over they ride ST1300's. Mesa, I believe rides Kawasaki Concours. I haven't seen a cop on a Harley in awhile.

My buddy is a motor cop in Fairfax and ride a HD. Washington DC are full of both sidecar and non sidecar bikes used as escorts for our dignitaries though the city.

I'm seeing more Police on Harley's.
I was cruising 5 over on the HWY ,glanced at my mirrors and saw a Harley with the white fairing way behind me.. Didn't think anything of it. Next thing, a HWY patrolman was passing me and giving me the wave...Yahoo..Keep calm and wave on..

CHP currently rides HD after a 14 year contract with BMW. Many of those BMW's went 125,000 or more before retirement. CHP had a $2500 rule on the hi-mileage BMW's. Needed more than $2500 in repairs? Stripped and sold.
The Harley's needed a cam change before CHP would accept them in the bid through Oakland HD, I think it was a SE-255.
BTW, a CHP motor was killed chasing a bad guy in South Sacramento a few days ago. I worked with the officers father.

Condolences to you on the loss of your friend's son. Shitty that the guy he was pursuing got away!

I haven't seen a motor cop in years but I wouldn't mind seeing one, unless He or She was behind me with the bubble gum machine turned on.

In our part of the woods (north by northwest) the Provincial LEO ride HD. These guys are part of the same provincial police force that sends their motor division to Milwaukee for the birthday celebrations every 5. They're called the Golden Helmets and if you haven't seen them......check it out next year at the 115th!

Here in Louisiana there are a ton of police on Road Kings. I talked to a local cop the other day at the gas station and he was on a new M8 RK. I think they change them out yearly. He said he loved the new engine.
