RE: removing baffles from vanec and hines big radius
I took mine out for a couple of days. Although it did sound good (very loud), I lost some low end torque and also some fuel mileage. My wife didn't like it either, so I put them back in.

I know it's not the big radius pipes on your bike, but I had the v&h cruzers and removed the baffles.
The result sounded like crap. [:'(]
It was definitely louder, but kinda hollow sounding.
Didn't leave them off long enough to check gas mileage or pay attention to performance differences.
I REALLY didn't like the sound.

A buddy of mine removed the baffles on his V&H big radius pipes and ended up not too crazy about the resulting sound and also noticed what he said was a noticable decrease in performance. He ended up going with the Big City Thunder -Thunder Monster baffles instead. Likes the deep throaty sound and says his peformance has increased (according to him).

If your going to pay the big $ for V & H why take out the baffles? For less then $100 you can have strait drag pipes. Very loud, loss of low and mid range.

I've had mine out since my first service and I love it. I did lose a little on the low end (my bike dynoed at 71/81) but not enough that I noticed a whole lot. The sound is just nasty. Loud and a whole lot of drone off throttle. It's all relative though so try and find someone in your area that has them without baffles and give a listen.

I have the Baffles out of mine. It is loud. I did notice some loss of preformance. Gotset of torque cones and put them in. Made a difference. Recently installed a Vance and Hines Fuel Pack. Since then cant complain about an performance loss. I have no intention of putting the baffles back in.

I think they sound the best with the baffles in.
I tried the Thunder Monsters, and it killed off my power as bad as removing the baffles.

I have a set of V&H Big Radius pipes on my CVO-Deuce.....I took the baffles out and replaced them with a set form Thunder Monster. Its sounds louder than with the stock V&H baffles, but not just louder.....its deeper and better sounding IMHO. This bike has the 95" Screaming Eagle engine....and it still needs a SERT(coming just as soon as I can get a weather window to ride her the 9 miles up to the local dealer)...right now, it has only had the Stage-1 DL, but the dam thing will pull the front wheel when I hit second gear!

I have Big Radius pipes coupled with a fuelpac, K&N filter & stock ECU settings (06's don't run well with a stage 1 & a fuelpac). Without baffles I lost power, had a lot of fluttering on decel & it just sounded lousey. Installed the Big City Thunder Baffles & never looked back. Great sound and power to spare. The install was easy too.
