Youre not gonna have a choice for very much longer on a new bike....unless you want to mess with a carburetor and a reserve, go fuel injected.

Most of the pureists like carbs , guess you can fine tune them and get a little more from them in HP . I personally perfer injection , no fuss- no muss ! No adjustments, just drive it , no readjustments and continued performance at higher elevations . Can you even buy a carbeurated Harley anymore ?

I have both and like either. However, if I were buying another bike, I'd shop for FI.

There is no choice these days on the new bikes coming. They are all FI. One adavantage of bikes with a carb is that you do not have to get it remapped or buy a fuel management system if you want to change the exhaust and AC. You just got to get it re-jetted. Cheaper that way. It might cost more initially, but I prefer the FI.

I like both actually.....the carburetor can be replaced easily and fairly inexpensively as well. The carburetor has proven itself over and over again. A 20 year old carburetor will probably still work....just a little cleaning will cure.

The EFI is great....just start it and then ride. Will a 20 year old EFI system work just as good as the 20 year old carburetor. Finding parts for EFI might be difficult as well especially when its older. EFI parts can and probably will be expensive compared to a jet/needles reguarding the carburetor.

Neither is better than the other though. Both work fine and get the job done.

Time will tell.....

It's all Shil's and Giggles until you find yourself on the side of the road with a bad sensor or bad injector, I believe it's "under the gas tank" ? Good luck, your option then is call 1-800-HOG-4TOW : - )

Where if a carb with maybe something under the needle and seat, take out 4 screws drop the bowl or even easier take the A/C off, hold a rag over the intake of the carb body and choke it while twisting the throttle at the same time, this works most of the time.

As well that was already mention here, power commando, no maps for changing a simple A/C or pipes ? lets all hear it for the simple life brought to us by the EPA !

BTW- lets hope those little lights and the circuitry keeps working ? or you will feel the pain without a manual reserve leaver, I personally would rather have a known ½ or extra gal of gas, guarantee ! : - )

Newer isn't always better !!!

Ride safe,

cj
