Disable alarm 2008 Fatboy Question
Hey all, I have a buddies 2008 Fatboy in my garage. He came to retrieve it Saturday but the alarm had been set and he does not know how to disable it. The bike won't start because of this. He has the key and fob with him but it did not disarm.
Anyone know how to disarm the alarm using standard Harley procedure? Basics here. He has not looked at the manual and if I wait for him I may have the bike in my garage all winter. While it sounds cool, it isn't when it is someone elses stuff.
My 2002 Heritage you simply press the fob button twice, watch the lights blink and your done. Fire her up and go.
What's the method on the 2008?
Thanks!
Scott

I don't think you can do it without his code number. He should have a 5 digit # that you use the turn signals to disarm.

Try changing the battery in the fob. Mine went dead during the first week.

RE: Disable alarm 2008 Fatboy Question
I presume this code is in his owners manual? If so, no problem, he has that. I was just hoping to push him a little sooner. He does not seem to be in a hurry to get the bike to his own garage. Sheesh, I wouldn't leave my bike in anyone elses care for one hour longer than necessary! Especially a brand new bike!
I'll get him to bring his manual over and figure it out for him.
Thanks.

We'll check into that too. I think geting the card and teaching him to unlock his own bike will save ME some hassle in the future I'm sure.
Hmm, more batteries . . . .

RE: Disable alarm 2008 Fatboy Question
or, the code may be the last 5 digits of the VIN (found on the frame just below the tank/forks on the right side), at least that's the way it comes from the factory on a '07 softail. He sounds so disengaged he probably never changed it from the factory setting. Hmmm, a bike without someone who wants to ride it ... sounds pretty sad to me.

RE: Disable alarm 2008 Fatboy Question
The dealer set mine as the last 4 digits of my vin# but the 0's equal another number. The fob should be hands free.
The procedure in in the manual on the turn signal sequence and everything. Then when you cut it off you have to do it again. Bet you ain't tried calling the dealer yet either Huh !
