We may not be seeing eye to eye.....on lids anyways...but damnit if you arent right about one thing..accident avoidance/prevention is the ALWAYS the safest bet....
One more thing..statistically..the interstate would be the safest place to ride without a helmet...
The city would prove the most deadly...not really surprising though..is it?
Re-read what I wrote. I said that in most motorcycles fatalities, the rider was wearing a helmet. I didn't say it contributed to their deaths, only that it did NOT prevent it. That's a plain fact - had these people not been wearing helmets, they'd have been just as dead. The helmet made NO difference.
Oh, I read that. If most of the motorcycle deaths were a result of high speed crashes, then the fact that they did or didn't have a helmet on doens't matter. I think most agree that a helmet isn't going to do much if your body is crushed and broken into several pieces in a wreck.
I hate helmets I hate seat belt and I hate the fact my head light is on all the time.
sorry but that is just me now I want my choice back......................
ins co said that non helmet use caused people to be laid up longer or never recover never said they helped keep you alive as that would cost them more money, but they do help with open casket funerals...........

If it can keep me alive long enough to explain to my wife how to pay the bills, it was worth it. [8D]
Also about motorcycle fatalities with lids....actually its a little over 50% fatalities without them....and a little under 50% with them on...there is another thread on here(not started by me) that confirms this with data
Look at the numbers I posted above your post. 58% of riders killed in motorcycle accidents in 2006 were wearing helmets.
Because of all of these safety police caring so much about me, I am going to start to wear a helmet... thank you for showing me the light. BUT, before I do I am going to point, laugh and make fun of SgtThump for wearing one ... HAHA!
Just having fun people

I'm 95% sure I read something to contrary of those numbers....
However if you read the summary of hurt report I posted...they added that the helmet use added no extra likely hood of death and REDUCED neck injury risk...
Back to what you said though...
I'd be far more inclined to ride without a helmet on the highway..than int he city..in fact..I would go ALMOST as far to call names almsot if you chose not to wear one in the city...atleast if people drive the same near you..as they do near me!!!!!yikes...
Now I havent wrecked(on the street, on the trails..well shit..I was riding a dirtbike..if you arent crashing....you must be on th eside of the trail with a flat..lol)..but I also only have about 2000miles under mybelt...95% or more of that was all urban riding though too..and its all been in about a year of riding...
