Tank Bra

Tank Bra
I'm thinking of putting a "Tank Bra" on my Sportster (2006 XL 1200C). Are there any disadvantages in using a "Tank Bra" ? Will it scuff the tank? Looking for opinions. [sm=feedback.gif]

RE: Tank Bra
I have one fitted to my Buell, great for protecting the tank from scratches caused by my riding jacket ect, and looks good, but quite a lot of grit and dirt get trapped behind it. Not a real problem for me as the tank cover is extruded plastic and any small marks can be polished out without a problem. But with a metal/painted tank this may cause problems long term.

Never had one, but had a bra on a sports car once. It caused more problems than it fixed. I think they and pickup truck bed liners are just marketing devices. Plus, they detract from the looks -- in my opinion.

I have one on my sporty. After hemming and hawing over whether I needed it, I scratched the **** out of my tank one day with my chap buckles. It was a very expensive lesson.

I was stationed at Shemya AFB in 1991. Beautiful place, isn't it!

I put a tank bra on my wifes bike. She was rubbing the paint really bad especially when wearing chaps.
As long as you keep it clean it will provide you with great service. I have run many on cars and trucks without any problems. If you are one who doesn't clean your bike or car for that matter I wouldn't bother. Keeping it free of dirt is a must and make sure it is on tight and doesn't flap in the wind! I also keep the tank polished up. Only takes a couple minutes!
Hope this Helps!
