Where do the high mileage HD bikes go?
I have always wonder where all the high mileage bikes go? For some reason, it seems like you can never find a old, worn out HD bike for sale for cheap. You can find a million car with 200,000 miles for a few hundred bucks, but you never see a cheap, worn out harley fora few hundred bucks. Any idea where they go? Scrap? Do they get parted out and are gone?People keep, or collect them?I would like to find some to take a look at.

I think theres a bunch in garages, storage sheds, spare rooms and where ever.I probly know of 25 or 30 sitten around waiting to be rebuilt or for kids to grow up an take over. Not for sale but liquid, sell in a week or two if they have to.I know of one that hasnt run in 15 yrs because one friend sold it to another and he wont sell it,cause he knows his friend will want it back. When his friend wants it back it will be a big party gettin it runnin again.

MIne (142k miles) about anywhere it wants to go. Seriously, with the engine reman program or just dropping in a crate motor, they can last forever. My riding buddy (218K on a 97 RK) jusyt went reman engine. He got a whole new mill. Guess they thout everything on his was worn out, yet it didn't use oil or run badly. He just wanted to reman and ride a bunch more without payments.

Tons of Knuckles, Pans, and Shovels are being shipped to Australia. See Australia has a 30% tariff on any bike newer than 25 years so all these old bike are showing up there. It's cheaper to by an old Pan and rebuild it there than it is to buy a new one.
