Default 10,000 mile service

What is the average price for a 10,000 mile service? The dealership said from 400-500 bucks. Is that the going rate?
Thanks!

It's about $45 for some oil and a filter plus about 2 hours in the garage spending quality time with your bike. I know a lot of people like to have it done by the dealer, but trust me, on a rainy day when you can't ride, the next best thing is hanging out in the garage messing with the bike(s). Try it and I assure you you will not be dissapointed.

rh8234 Hit it right on the head... Besides learning something
about your bike i take alot of pride in doing my own work its not
about saving the money its about knowing its done right...
Look in your manual go down the list of what needs to be done
as you do em write in the book what you have done... Its not
hard at all. After you service the bike you will see how easy
it is!! ..... Let me know how you make out?

Buy the service manual , a set of tools and a good torque wrench, and the fluids and do it yourself. As stated above its a great way to get to know your bike.
I did mine in a couple of hours and it was quite satisfying. So you don't have any issues with your warranty just keep good records and your receipts for the fluids and filter.
I will only use the dealer for major transmission and motor work and of course the occasional warranty issue.

Don't forget to lube/adjust all your cables, check/adjust neck bearings, check/adjust primary chain tension, cam chain tension, tire wear, wheel bearings, spark plugs, brake fluid levels/pad wear, scanalyize, and 1 or 2 other things that are supposed to be on a 10,000 mile service!!

Boy oh boy, I just don't get it! We all have got to have a Harley, then we want to question/debate/refute the cost of maintaining it. Uhhhh. WalMart will service H-D motorcycles. Didn't we question the cost of service/maintenance prior to the purchase?

One thing you have to do is unbolt the tank, lift and move back. This will give enough room to get to the bolts/nuts.
Do yourself a favor and buy a FSM.
