Who still rides an EVO motor?

RE: Who still rides an EVO motor?
'94 FXDWG here.... Dad bought it new. I've had a '93 Sportie and a '95 Dyna Convertible. All great bikes for their purpose, but I love the Wide Glide. I thought about buying new before I got this one from Pop's, butI'm glad I waited. He's looking to get a bagger and needed the space in the garage. The price was right and now I can aford to make it my own. When I had my other two, with payments, I couldnt do much to them to make them my own, so I felt like I was riding a metric that had no soul. I'm not looking to draw attention by any means, but I'm proud of this one and notice people walking by new bikes to look at mine.. Guess its a classic now.. I'm looking to possibly get the wife a bike and it will certainly be an Evo. My reasoning, basicly, there arent enough differences between a '88 and a '08 to justifya $12-15k difference to me. If you look hard enough, you can find a nice big twinfor less than a Sportie. Also, tools and manuals can be commonized..I like some of the new stuff and dont knock them at all, FI is one thing I would love to have. Being a car wrench by trade, I'm not afraid to work on one if it does break, but they are so reliable, it leaves a ton of time and money for maint and customization..

98 Heritage, ride it all the time. Just got an 07 Dyna this year but kept the Heritage also. New bikes are great, but the old EVOS have a tremendous amount of character, like a vintage bike, but are still reliable, and cruise fast 80-90 mph. They also get better milage. I easily get 50- 60mpg on the road, 42-45 in town on that Heritage. Power (with mild porting and EV27 cam)is about the same as a stageone 96" motor, But feels like more grunt down low, does not rev out as freely as the twin cam

Here's mine, with 44,000 miles. 1996 RK with fuel injection. Bumped up with the EV27 cam, screaming eagle push rods and Jims hydralic lifters, and a new head gasket. Ride to work 4 days a week and all weekends. Paid for and it works for me.

Got a shop-built EVO based B-T with 99% aftermarket parts in/on it.....makes for interesting times when getting replacement parts. The original build sheet that came with the bikelists many P/N'sbut no nomenclature. When buying a used ride there are no guarantees.....the previous/original owner took good care of the bike and never beat on it....I only know that because he is a good friend.
The bike suits my needs to a tee and is reliable. That's what it's all about!

1993, 1994, 1998 all Softails. I will always have an evo, the best bikes HD ever made. I have ridden a Twin Cam Road King and several Twin Cam Softails. Didn't care for any of them. I don't care for the new Softails with the counter balance. Feels like I'm ridding a metric. HARLEYS are suppose to shake baby!
