Default Hazards Of The Road.

No. I am not talking about The Dukes. Every time we throw a leg over our iron ponies and hit the black top unexpected hazards await us. Something that we do not see coming. For instance. Last Saturday I was on a 2 lane Texas state highway. Running 70 mph. Meet a gravel hauler going the other way. Probably running the same. As the rear of his trailer passed. I saw a black fist sized object , I think it was a piece of asphalt, fly across my lane. My late grand daughter is my Guardian Angel. She is always with me. Some way that piece of asphalt (flying at 70 mph) passed over my Ultra's front fender. Over the lower fairing. Hit my right leg a glancing blow just below the knee on the outside of my right leg. Did not touch the bike at all. It all happened in a blink of the eye. That was a week ago. My leg is still sore. Just a few inches over it would have hit my knee cap and no doubt shattered it. Who knows? Ride Safe. May Your Guardian Angel Look Over You Always.

Gotta keep our heads on a swivel. I don’t know how many things like that have happened with me.
Thank God for watching out for me.

The same thing happened to me a few years back on a Texas two-lane highway. A gravel truck was going by in the opposing lane when I heard a loud bang from the front of my bike. This was the result.

Glad you are ok. Earlier this year had a big stone or some object hit my helmet just above my eyes with a lot of force, figured came from a truck going the opposite direction.

i freakin hate them gravel trucks. between texas and la, there are a ton of them on the road. seems every time i encounter one, i get a rock chip in my windshield, or one bounces off of my helmet/face/body somewhere. them, and them damn log trucks!

My opinion, hazards are all risk and reward. We can be prepared but some are unpreventable. When the risk outweighs the reward we stop riding.
Ride safe my friends
