Just had Vance and Hinse Long Shots put on my 2008 Ultra Classic. I had the dealership do the install and they returned to me a little black box that has the Screaming Eagle logo and it is marked EFI Race Tuner Kit. On the box they put my VIN number. What is this box? Do I need to keep it? I assume this is the interface for the download. If it has a use I may be interested in using the download for my 05 Softail. I have a V&H Fuel Pack but if the EFI Race tuner is better I am willing to give it a shot. Any feedback would be helpful. I don't want to hold onto something that is worthless.

 

Keep it. If you ever need "tuning" work done on your UC, this "dongle" is needed to input any changes into the ECM. The term "married" is used because it is linked to only one ECM (the VIN information is stored in this little box).

No you can not use it on your Softail. You would need to get a whole new set-up.

 

Did they install a SERT without your knowledge???

 

They did do the race tune. I appreciate the feedback. I only got 20 miles yesterday after I picked it up but for not the performance is sweet. I also like the long shots being lower and not burning my legs like the stock pipes. I will ride for a while and see if I want to invest the dollars for the SERT on the softail. Too many wants and not enough bucks to cover.
