Default How do you "Car Fax" a bike?

I wonder if I could get a history on this VIN: 1HD1BTY1X4Y085478 .

I am buying the bike on Tuesday having put a deposit on it already.

Can anyone run the number for me? Is there some way for me to do it my self?

Thanks guys!

Greg.

I don't put much faith in 'Bike and/or Car Fax' type information, as the information it provides is only based on insurance claims files through an insurance company, or registered owner information from the Motor Vehicle Department.

For example, a lot of guys don't have valid insurance on their bike, orfor other reasons choose not to file an insurance claim if they damage their bike, and just'repair it' on their own to the best of their ability.

In situations such as that prior damage to a bike (or any other vehicle) wouldn'tshow up if you ran a Car or Bike Fax report.

But one thing I do before purchasing a used bike is to have the local Sheriff Department run the VIN, just to verify the bike isn't "hot", and to make sure the seller is actually the current registered owner.

Yes, In this case I have faxed a copy of the Title to the US Border Import office so they will run a stolen or lien check on it. Still there must be a way to check warrantee work, milage, claims history.

That bike was originally a vivid black FXSTB. It was sold new on 7/24/04 to Big Island Harley Rentals on Kailua-Kona, HI. It was then sold to Kraig Lemay in Hillsboro OR on 8/12/04.

That's all I've got.
