Default Low fuel light

Put a new set of silver faced gauges in my fairing when I had it painted this spring. The new speedo's low fuel light comes on when the tank is completely full for about 25-30 miles then goes off. Doesn't come on when its near empty - took it down to less than 1/4 gallon and no light

The new gas gauge seems to be accurate

Think it is a sensor in the tank ? Worked perfectly with the stock gauge.

Suppose the new gauge is bad ?

By the way it's acting, I'd say you plugged the wires (in the back of the guage) in backwards. It's acting exactly opposite of the way it should be.

I had the sme problem when I went to a LED gas gauge....There were two sets of instructions, one for EFI and one for carb. We ahd to splice into the wire and run a jumper wire. This was a year or so ago so it's a little hard to remember. My low fuel light only came on when it was full, just the opposite of the way it was supposed to work.

What kind of gauges did you install? Matbe you can go online and check for revisions of directions for installation ie. carb vs EFI...

Good luck

This is EXACTLY what my low fuel light does too (comes on when full and goes off after some gas is used) and I too have a Kuryaken LED fuel/battery gauge installed by the previous owner. Well crap... Guess it was installed wrong.
