Default 84 month (7yr) loan rate

Yea I know, loan rates are personal and subject to credit rating. I also know how to use the search function (older info. and nothing on 84 months). I also know that I should only buy what I can afford (i.e. pay cash). I also know we should only finance for the shortest time possible if we choose to finance. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few others. BUT, for my own reasons I am getting my bike, and will be financing a portion of it for 84 months. Does any one have any information, current loans, etc. that might help me make sure I get a good rate? I have excellent credit and they (HD financing) are thinking about 9% (after I asked them to re-think their first guess).

Let me know what you think, thanks.

I didnt know you could go that long on motorcycle loan. I know HD financial was at 5.99-6.99 with 10-20% down for 60 months a few months ago, So I would think 8.99 for 84 months would be close. Not sure if you have a house, but a Home equity loan would give you a much lower rate and you can take the bike interest off your taxes. Many people on here also use their bank or credit union and they tend to be a little less then HD financial. You may want to shop around.

I was given 7.5% on my 84 month loan through HD credit. I think the Home equity line of credit would be way lower than that though, as wbogley said. I don't know why motorcycle financing isn't like it is for a car. Why can't they come out with 0% or 1.9% financing options.

i can't advise on 84 months, but i have been loan shopping since my wreck. i am looking at 24-48 mos. the best rate i have been quoted is 4.75% for 48 months from tva employees credit union. you don't have to be an employee, just have to join. i don't recall hd rates, but they were not that good. hope this helps.

I used a local credit union, their rates were way better than anything HD had.

I recommend a credit union as well. Look for "RV" rates, as that's what a motorcycle is considered by lending institutions.

I just walked out of the dealerabout 20 minutes ago where they quoted me 9.99 for 60 months. That is with excellent credit ( score in the mid 700s) and putting half down on the bike. I don't have any other loans or debt right now so I don't mind financing a new toy, but that was a bit more then I was expecting. The finance guy told me the rates just went up about a week ago. I do not have a credit union at work and my bank will not touch a bike so I have to rethink this a bit.
