Rain suits and winter gear

Rain suits and winter gear
The other day on the news they were talking $6 gas around the end of the year. \\; Normally I ride the bike to work, except in rain or when it's too cold out here in South TX (Yes, it can get bone-chilling cold at times). \\; Anyway, with gas going to high things have got to change. \\; What is a good insultated rain suit that can be worn for warmth as well as rain? \\; I've got a couple insulated leather jackets, bakalva and the rest of it for the winter. \\; I just need something to keep me dry and warm for a 20 mile trip to work each day. \\; I'v also thought about getting not only a rain suit, but insulated overpants, or coveralls as well. \\; So those are also options for me.

Check out Frogg Toggs
I wear this one over my jacket, but it's not insulated.
Check to see if they have insulated.

Many people and some of the bike mags have raved about the HD FXRG. It's not just a jacket and pants but a protective wear system. Pricey but a one time investment.

Do a Google on the best rainsuits for the money. \\; Having been a backpacker for years, at one point \\;I invested in Frog Toggs and found them to be less than adquate for heavy usage. \\; They just don't hold up. \\; If you are going to spend a lot of time riding \\;in inclimate weather then invest in the best you can find for your money. \\; Also look into Gore Windstopper jackets for the inner layer. \\; Harley rainsuits are pretty good and the Hi-Vis orange one selling for $150 at the moco or 20% less from Chicago HD or Zanotti's is a good choice. \\; The FXRG mention above is also a good choice but you are still going to need a quality rain suit over the outfit. \\; Check of Ebay. \\; Disclaimer: \\; Just my humble opinion.

So...what’s considered "Bone chilling" in Texas.
Just curious, that and it would help in answering your question.

I like Tourmaster. I used the Sabre series II jacket and overpants all last winter. They have removable, insulated liners and armor padding for knees, elbows, etc. I ride all the way down to freezing, 28 miles each way.
 \\;
I have a Tourmaster Sentinel rain jacket and overpants on the way. The pants have a high-heat resistant lining (Nomex) on the inside of the legs for pipes.
