OK, so maybe it was more than bad ham salad!

Just got my issue of American Iron. They have another article in it about the new EPA regs due next year. It's in the "How It Works" column, starting on page 28. Y'all need to read it, and understand what it is saying.

Exhaust! Illegal to change pipes if said pipes require remap/rejet or are even the teensiest bit louder.

Carburetor? Illegal to change/rejet.

Air cleaner? Illegal to change if it results in necessity to remap/rejet.

Kit-type custom bike? One (1) in your life time. Can't sell it for 5 years. If it gets stolen or wrecked, tough. No more custom bike for you. Ever.

More custom bike stuff? Buy one from a small shop under the exemption for such shops. Can only ride it to/from shows, displays, etc. Not to/from work. Not Saturday afternoon cruise. Not Marine Corps Toys for Tots run.

What are y'all going to do about this rule?

I love my gooberment more than all the others, but sometimes ...

I guess I'll keep my bike forever. Do these rules apply to the dealer only, or to the dealer and the buyer.

In oregon they are talking about a test to make sure the decibel level is below a certain standard, if not, than it will require exhaust that complies

That definately sucks, looks like the aftermarket exhaust's, and performance parts companys are in trouble along with the biker.

Skip, I'll definitely read that article - it's getting really ridiculous & out of hand, isn't it .....

Does this apply to only '06 models and up? Or are we all going to have to start looking for OEM exhaust systems on our older models?

What a crock of bullshit. Why the hardon for bikers and our scoots all of a sudden? They trying to force us to ride a rice burner? **** that! Cant the AMA do something. Or maybe we all need to be writing our senators and congress men and let em know if they dont do something, they are gonna lose alot of votes! We put em there, we can take em out!

It already applies to the older bikes, just nobody really enforces it. I figger it'll be one of those things they start on and then ratchet it up 'til every state has to have a program to catch us scofflaws with modifications.
