Default Dealer takes away parts discount after spending $67,000...

A friend of mine was geting a 20% discount on parts and accessories from a local dealer after spending $67000 + he sold 5 or 6 bikes for the dealer in the past 3 years. HE recently in the last month bought a new Street glide with a 103 kit to include heads, cam etc. download, TFI, Rinehardt true duals, tour pak, on and on and on, big bucks. Last week he went in to order some more upgrades for his new ride and was informed they had taken away his discount because the GM felt he was abusing the privilage.
Hello! what was he doing spending too much money with the jerks. I couldn't believe it. He told one of the parts guys who questioned his decision that they only gross 25% off list on parts. Is that BS or do they have that small of a mark up on parts? How did HD get such idiots and piss poor businessmen running these dealerships, abusing the people that have made them so sucessful, despite themselves and their arrogance. How does that grab everyone.....

Shocking! A dealer treating a valued customer, and one that spent in excess of 60G's, poorly. This is unreal. Never heard of. Totally unlike the majority of dealers out there. [sm=lame.gif] This dealer must of missed the initial class on screwing customers but it seems they caught back up on their homework and made right.
Seriously, this doesn't surprise me. Post the Stealers name and location so we all can avoid him. Tell your buddy to check out Zanotti's in PA. They sell at discount over the phone and net. I'm curious, I wonder how much parts & accessory sales Zanotti's does compared to the rest of the Stealers around. I bet they smoke 'em! I wish the word would get out to everyone who supports their local stealer because they think they have no where else to go that they can get good prices with good customer service. Neither has to be sacrificed because you own a Harley. Then maybe the stealers would get their acts together or close up shop and make way for a new customer service focused dealer to open.

As Paul Harvey would say.....Whats the rest of the story? $67,000 for just parts and accessories ???? What was the guy doing selling them on eBay or maybe somehow cutting into the dealers business by competing aginst them? Something dont just sound right. I would guess the guy was buying parts for all his friends and anyone else who wanted a discount but didnt have the clout to get a big discount. Hey we all work to make money and people own dealerships to make money. I have to pay retail for my parts....I cant get them at walmart so if I want something .....I pay what the seller wants. ....its the its my ball...if ya want to play we play by my rules......................what ya gonna do?

What he said.... theres more to the story. This group is really quick to assume the dealer is the one doing the abusing and it ain't always so...

I've spent a few grand last year on parts and accessories. I get my 5-15% discount at my local Dealership along with another 5-8% with the rewards program and am happy with that because I know that my money is helping them offer great service and activities to the community....

If someone is abusing the discounts then they shouldn't get them... It only hurts the dealership and we shouldn't be defending abusers...

Yea, I don't think the dealer intends for the customer to buy parts for all his friends. This may, or may not be the case here. I cannot believe a dealership would be so unwise as to do a customer wrong on purpose. He knows word gets around and that would hurt his reputation and therefore sales. I know I wouldn't give my money to some place with a bad reputation, would you?
