2009 Softail Custom 94.5 inches
2009 Dyna Low Rider 93.1 inches

Rent them both two great models of bikes you can't go wrong. As for the 70's motorcycle comment those were some mean looking machines back then. Rember Eddie Lawson.

i bought my 02 super g used because of the price. but if i had the money for a brand new bike, i'd get a heritage or roadking.

love my dyna but wish i had something with more meat on it's bones.

guess that's not really relevant to what you're asking but...

2006 FXST/I SOFTAIL® STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS1

DIMENSIONS
Length 95.0 in. (2413.0 mm)

2006 FXD/I DYNA SUPER GLIDE® SPECIFICATIONS1

DIMENSIONS
Length 92.8 in. (2357.0 mm)

Just sayin'!!!

The STD has added rake & that alone will add length.

I had an '01 Sporty with 100hp; it was a lot of fun but not good enough for two-up. Tried a few; the FLH's felt HUGE to me and were ponderous in the curves; I settled on a Dyna T-Sport and took 6 months to find the right one (then stripped it down to the bare frame and split the cases to make it what I really wanted; but that's another story). Couldn't be happier...but YOUR decision depends on YOUR riding style and preferences...renting is a safe way to try before you buy. Be sure in your mind what you want from your bike...you'll be happier longer. Oh yeah; my passenger enjoyed riding so much she bought her own Dyna after 2 years on back of mine.

7hp and about 10 ft-lbs of torque. Not much of a difference to begin with, but if you're gonna build the motor, B motors are not the way to go because of the counter balancer.

I like the Dyna better, but I agree with others on this, only you will know what you will like best. Ride them both before deciding.

Well,

STTim......the first thing is ya gotta know the difference between "WHEELBASE" and "LENGTH"......they are two different things....that said, my Dyna is longer than a Softail Standard

2006 Wide Glide LENGTH 97.5 inches
2006 Softail Standard 95.0 inches

The WHEELBASE of my Dyna is 68.3 inches
Softail Standard 66.9

Just Sayin.......
