It depend"s on how many years you get it for. don't remember exactly thought it was like close to a grand for like 4 year's. something like that.

I'm not sure if you mean the pre-paid service plan or the extended warranty. They are not the same. I have both. The service plan gives you all of the scheduled services, for a pre-determined amount of time, for a fee. Mine cost me $1000.00 for three years, I have my bike serviced every 5K miles and she has over 35K miles on her, still have one year left on the service plan...I'm money ahead on this one. The extended warranty also cost $1000.00 for seven years. I haven't used it on this bike yet, but I used it on my previous bike twice. Total cost for repair was about $3,000.00, my cost out of pocket was only $100.00. To me, it is money well spent. I ride about 18K miles a year.

It was just short of $1,400 when I got my 04 1200R Sporty. Had I bought it I would be out the money as the dang bike, which has a bit over 30,000 miles on it now, just wouldn't cooperate and never had a single problem. I did however put that $1,400 and more into the upgrades. Worked for me...

I consistently log 30,000 miles a year so for me it was worth getting.

Why? If the bike goes 120,000 miles in 4 years and doesn't break it wasn't worth it at all. However, if it does break and the item that breaks is a covered item then it was worth it. The one thing I have never liked about these sort of plans is they run in conjunction or parallel to the manufacturers warranty. If it's extended then it should start when the manufacturers warranty stops.

I bought the VIP Platinum Service Plan, 3 years unlimited mileage service and parts, including wear parts such as tires, brake pad, battery, for $2999. The first year I put 21000 miles on the bike and saved myself 30% on scheduled maintenance and two tires. I expect to do the same for the remaining two years. Plus, anytime I want, they will wash and polish the Ultra at no extra charge.

I also bought the extended warranty for $1200. That got me three years bumper to bumper warranty beyond the factory two years, same circumstance. I may not need any warranty work but at the rate I put miles on the bike, it is likely I will. That's 100,000 miles, folks.

Being retired, old, fat, and weakened by COPD, it makes a lot of sense to spend up front money, than to try and work it into the budget unexpectedly.
